Skimmer Recommendations for 20g

Postby by7460 on Fri Nov 30, 2007 9:07 am

I have a 20 gallon tank and still empty. I am thinking of a mini-reef set up in my living room so I would want it to be as quiet as possible. Are Prism skimmers good for small tanks? And are they pretty quiet? Any thoughts on a quiet skimmer?

Hi there!
Prism's are Great! Mine only cost me like $50! It's not too bad on noise either. At first it might be a a little noisy but after it breaks in it will get quieter.

if you go with the prizm, try getting a blade impeller. it seems to quiet it down more and improve its skimming efficiency.

i would say go "skimmer-less" and use the money for lights or corals. w/ that small of a tank you might not need a skimmer. you can actually deplete a lot of the trace elements skimming.

that of course is just my thought! :)
