Green Algee

Postby Joe on Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:02 am

I have a 50 gallon salt water tank that has recently been overrun with green algee. I change the water regularly. I must be overfeeding the fish. My question is "how do I get the algee off of the live rock, can I pick it off ? Can I remove the live rock and scrub it off ?

You can do both actually.... Remove the live rock to a bucket with new saltwater or your excess tank water during water change and scrub with a new toothbrush.. Or remove it by hand before your water change so you can syphon off the floating stuff you miss. If you hold a cup of water in your other hand it helps get the stuff you pulled off your hand. It takes a while but you have to prune the green hair algae as it will get super long. It has a cool look to it if its kept under control.Image
